My mom went through a rough couple of years because of cancer treatments. Thankfully, she is in full remission right now. She was very weak for the last year of it, and she even spent some time in the hospital because of it. Now that she is back home and getting stronger by the day, she is ready to start returning to her normal life routines again. I wanted to give her a gift that I knew she would appreciate, which was in-home beauty service. I use the service myself, which is why I knew she would really enjoy it too.

I wanted to make the appointment with my own stylist, so I was happy to see that she was available the day my dad wanted to take my mom out on their first post-cancer date. We all know she is beautiful, but she was not feeling that way because of what she had been through. I knew that the airbrush makeup that I get done would lift her spirits up in a very positive way. I had told her I was going to do this, and she was looking forward to it all week leading up to that Saturday.

My stylist already knew about Mom’s challenges because we talk about anything and everything when she is at my house. She told me that she felt like she already knew my mom just from our talks, and that made Mom very happy. Even before she was done applying the makeup and styling Mom’s hair, they were acting like they were old buddies. Mom’s confidence went from down in the dumps to absolutely beaming when she finally looked at herself in the mirror. My dad told her she looked beautiful too, but he has been telling her that every day for the last two years too!
